You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child. Dr. Seuss

We believe in the power of books. This is why one of our favorite things about being based in Portland, is that we are a city of readers. In fact, Portland is home to Powell’s Books, one of the largest independent bookstores in the nation.

It’s one reason we enjoy celebrating literacy events throughout the year from International Literacy Day and D.E.A.R. Day (Drop Everything and Read) to NEA’s annual Seussian tribute, Read Across America.

At our downtown Portland HQ, we have a dedicated literacy corner filled with whimsical art by Theodor Seuss Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss. We’ll be there today, reading stories about cats and hats, green eggs and ham, and more. In celebration of Read Across America 2017, we also wanted to share a few read-aloud, Seuss-inspired vides from our archives that we’ve had a great time creating over the years.
